Dharamshala: Sushma Verma, the 22 year old cricketer, has been picked to represent India for a test match with South Africa.
The match as part of South African teams India tour is scheduled to be played at Gangotri Glades ground in Mysore from 16 to 19 November.
Other team member announced include Mithali Raj (Captain), Smriti Mandhana, Shikha Pandey, N. Niranjana, M.D. Thirushkamini, Jhulan Goswami, Punam Raut, Harmanpreet Kaur, Shubhalakshmi Sharma, Ekta Bisht, Rajeshwari Gaekwad, Sushma Verma, Poonam Yadav, Swagatika Rath, V.R. Vanitha.
“Sushma Verma being picket to represent India is great news for Himachal and HP Cricket Association,” said Anurag Thakur, president HPCA. “She has proved her mettle and gained a spot in the Indian team,” he added.
The Shimla born cricketer is a right-hand batsman and a wicket-keeper. She has played so far for India Blue Women, India Women and Indian Board President’s Women XI. She has also represented India on T 20 team in a match with Bangladesh played on April 5, 2013 at Vadodra.
