Shimla: Sh. Nand Lal Sharma, Chairman & Managing Director, SJVN was extended a warm farewell by the SJVN family in a function at Corporate Headquarters, Shimla. On this occasion, Smt. Geeta Kapur, Director (Personnel), Sh. A.K Singh, Director (Finance), Sh. Sushil Sharma, Director (Projects), and SJVN employees wished him success in all endeavors in the future. Sh. Nand Lal Sharma will join the Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission (HERC) as Chairman.
During his tenure as Chairman & Managing Director, Sh. Nand Lal Sharma has steered SJVN towards exponential growth in India & abroad and elevated the portfolio of the company from 5200 MW to 59872 MW at present. His leadership facilitated the growth of the company in various verticals such as Hydro, Thermal, Solar, Wind, Transmission, Consultancy, and Power Trading. The share price of the company achieved tremendous growth during his tenure. With over 34 years of experience in administration and the Power Sector, Sh. Sharma transformed challenges into opportunities, steering SJVN towards its Mission of 12000 MW by 2026, Vision of 25000 MW by 2030, and 50000 MW installed capacity by 2040. On 12th January 2024, in a major achievement under the Human Resources initiative carried out by Sh. Sharma, SJVN was certified as a Great Place To Work.
In recognition of his exemplary contribution in the field of Administration & Power Sector, Sh. Nand Lal Sharma has been conferred with numerous prestigious awards. Recently, he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by Dr. Y.S. Parmar University of Horticulture & Forestry. In 2021, the Hon’ble Prime Minister of Nepal, Sh. Sher Bahadur Deuba felicitated him at Singh Durbar, Kathmandu for his relentless efforts in the development of Hydro Power in Nepal and strengthening bilateral ties between India & Nepal. Over the years, he has received several recognitions namely the ‘Prestigious CEO with HR Orientation Award’ by ET Now, and ‘PSU Award of the Year’ by Dalal Street Investment Journal for his outstanding contribution to making SJVN the most efficient & profitable Mini Ratna Company in the year 2020 & 2021, ‘CEO of the Year Award’ by Global CSR Excellence & Leadership Awards; ‘HIM RATTAN Award’ by Promoters of Social & Cultural Heritage of Himachal Pradesh, to name a few.
Sh. Nand Lal Sharma commenced his professional journey as an Officer in the esteemed Himachal Pradesh Administrative Services in 1989 and in 2008 joined SJVN as Executive Director (HR). He was selected as Director (Personnel) SJVN and served this post from March 22, 2011, till November 2017. Sh. Sharma’s unwavering pursuit of excellence continues to inspire countless individuals and organizations, and his journey will serve as a powerful source of motivation for generations to come.
