In a heartwarming display of unity, politicians from both the Congress and the BJP set aside their political differences and came together to enjoy the Cricket World Cup match between India and New Zealand at HPCA Stadium at Dharamshala on October 22, 2023.
Some of the prominent figures who attended the match were J .P. Nadda, the BJP national president, Anurag Thakur, a BJP leader and the Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, a Congress leader and the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh. Harshvardhan, the state Industries Minister of the Congress-led government in Himachal, Jai Ram Thakur, the Leader of the Opposition in the Himachal state assembly, Dr. Rajiv Bindal, the Himachal Pradesh BJP president, Himachal Pradesh State Tourism Corporation Chairman Raghubir Singh Bali, and a few others.
The Chief Minister, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, was seen sitting between J.P. Nadda and Anurag Thakur in the VVIP stands, and they were photographed sitting together in a gesture of unity.
The match was also attended by cricket officials like BCCI Secretary Jay Shah, and IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal.
India won the match its fifth win in a row in the ongoing World Cup ODI championship.
