THDC Lifts Maiden Coal Cargo To Fuel Super Thermal Power Plant

THDC India Limited, a central sector power company has lifted its first coal consignment from the mining area in Singrauli district of Madhya Pradesh for firing up its Khurja Super Thermal Power project in Bulandshahar district of Uttar Pradesh. Sh. R. K. Vishnoi, Chairman and Managing Director of THDC India Limited, virtually flagged off the First Coal Rake from Deoragram Railway Siding, THDC Amelia Coal Mines Project, Distt. Singrauli, Madhya Pradesh.

Sh. Vishnoi congratulated the team THDC Amelia Coal Mine Project and informed that this flagging-off ceremony symbolizes a major achievement for THDCIL as it marks the successful commencement of coal transportation from the Amelia Coal Mines project to further fuel the energy needs of power projects. He informed that the Amelia Coal Mine has been allotted to THDC India Limited in January-2017 by the Ministry of Coal, Govt. of India, to meet the coal requirement of the Khurja Super Thermal Power Project of THDCIL in District Bulandshahar, Uttar Pradesh.

Sh. R. K. Vishnoi, CMD lauded the dedicated efforts of team THDC at the Amelia Coal Mine project. He informed that the Commercial Operations of Amelia Coal Mine have commenced six months ahead of schedule which is a special achievement. He emphasized that this accomplishment stands as a testament to their unwavering dedication, combined with the strategic guidance provided, resulting in this resounding success. He also expressed his delight and emphasized the importance of this initiative in ensuring a steady and reliable supply of coal to meet the energy requirements of the Khurja Project.

The occasion was graced by Sh. Shallinder Singh, Director (Personnel), Sh. Bhupendra Gupta, Director (Technical), Sh. L. P. Joshi, Executive Director (Tehri Complex, APP), Sh. Atul Jain, Executive Director (Technical), Sh. A. B. Goel, Executive Director (Finance), Sh. A. K. Sharma, Head-Amelia Coal Mine Project and other senior officials of THDC India Limited.

Sh. Vishnoi stated that to meet the requirement of the Coal in the Country, the mine was opened on 17th November, 2022 by the team led by Sh. A.K. Sharma, CGM (ACMP) at Amelia Coal Mine Project. Amelia Coal Mine is operational since 17th November, 2022.

 

 

The PRC (Peak Rated Capacity) of Amelia Coal Mine is 5.6 MTPA. The Amelia Coal Mine is running in MDO Mode (mine developer cum operator) for which M/s. ACML (Amelia Coal Mining Ltd.) has been appointed as MDO for the development & operationalization of the Mine. M/s. ACML is a subsidiary of ESSEL Mining Ltd. mining arm of M/s. Aditya Birla Group.

Sh. Vishnoi informed that the dispatching of the first coal rake from Amelia Coal Mines marks a significant step forward in THDCIL’s efforts to contribute to the energy security of the nation. THDCIL remains committed to playing a crucial role in the energy sector by exploring diverse avenues and implementing sustainable solutions.

On this occasion, Sh. Shallinder Singh, Director (Personnel) said that this historic accomplishment is the result of collaborative efforts and the commitment of THDCIL’s workforce and stakeholders. Sh. Singh also conveyed his appreciation of all the positive contribution of local populace and local administration in this achievement. Sh. Bhupendra Gupta, Director (Technical) during his address stated that with this momentous achievement, we embark on a new phase of growth, ensuring a brighter and more prosperous future for India.

Sh. Shallinder Singh, Director (Personnel) and Sh. Bhupendra Gupta, Director (Technical) also conducted a detailed review meeting all the senior officials of Amelia Coal Mine Project along with other stakeholders of the project i.e. NTPC and Birla Group discussing various aspects related to the project.

THDCIL is one of the premier power generators in the country with installed capacity of 1587 MW with commissioning of Tehri Dam & HPP (1000MW), Koteshwar HEP (400MW) in Uttarakhand, Wind Power Projects of 50MW at Patan & 63MW at Dwarka in Gujarat, 24MW Dhukwan Small Hydro Project, Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh and 50 MW Solar Power Project at Kasaragod, Kerala to its credit.
