Dharamshala: Police officer (IPS) SR Rana, who was serving as Commandant IR Battalion, Jangal Beri, suffered a cardiac arrest while on duty at the ‘Jan Aabhar Rally’, a thanks giving public meeting for the voters for having elected the Congress to power in the state at the recent elections held here at the Zorawar stadium.
The public meeting was attended by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.
The chief minister has condoned the demise of the officer. The chief minister did visit the Zonal Hospital, Dharamshala where the officer was shifted to the emergency ward. The CM laid a wreath on the mortal remains of Sh. Rana.
Sukhu also consoled the grief stricken wife, son and other family members of the deceased police officer. “The State Government is with the family of S.R. Rana in this hour of distress”, said the CM. The Government would provide all possible assistance to the family of Sh. Rana, he added.
Several MLAs, Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police Kangra and other officers did accompany the Chief Minister.
