Dharamshala: Sudden rise in Covid cases in Kangra District has become a matter of concern. The Positivity rate of the virus has increased from 0.8 in May this year to 6.6 in start of July 22
Dr Gurdarshan Gupta – Chief Medical Officer Kangra has issued an alert about the spread of the virus.
In a press statement CMO said, “At present, a huge increase in new cases of Covid 19 has been registered in district Kangra,in April new Covid cases registered were 93 and in May the figure was 86, which suddenly jumped to 426 in June 2022 and in just 2 days of July we had 82 fresh cases. Similarly the positivity rate too jumped from 0.8 in May this year to 6.6 in the start of July22, These figures are worrying.”
Chief medical officer further said that everyone is requested to follow Covid-compliant behaviour, isolate immediately in case of cough, fever, cold and get themselves tested, so that this infection can be prevented from spreading further.
Dr Gupta advised that if someone has a vaccine due, then get the vaccine immediately. “Your cooperation can save us from future danger,” he added.
Till date there have been 64,388 confirmed Covid Cases in Kangra district since it was first detected in 2020. Of the total 62,895 patients recovered from it, 238 cases are still active and 1,248 lost their lives due to Covid. In 2022, there have been 69 deaths due to COVID including 2 in June 22.
