Dharamshala: Rift in BJPs state faction units is wide open after the party lost all four seats where by-elections were held resulting in the resignation of a senior functionary from a party post saying that he could ‘not tolerate the humiliation anymore.’
Making his resignation letter to state president Suresh Kashyap public by posting it on Facebook, he wrote, “I, Kripal Parmar, vice-president, Himachal BJP, am sending my resignation from the party post. Kindly accept it. I will explain the reason in separate letters.”
Parmar said that for the last four years, he had been ignored by the party and now he could no longer bear it. The dramatic resignation just before the two-day all-important BJPs State Working Committee meeting gets on 24th November has raised eyebrows in political circles.
For the Fatehpur by-elections, BJP had fielded Baldev Thakur in place of Kripal Parmar. He is reported to have not contested as an independent on the persuasion of chief minister Jai Ram Thakur. However, Parmar stayed away from campaigning for the party in the elections
Baldev Thakur lost the by-election to Bhawani Singh Pathania of the Congress by more than 5,000 votes. He said that he was humiliated in one way or the other. He said that he cannot bear the humiliation anymore, hence has resigned from his post.
Kripal Parmar, who is considered close to former chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal, said that he was humiliated in one way or the other and that he could not bear it anymore and thus had resigned his post.
Parmar from 2002-06 was a BJP MP of Rajya Sabha.
