Dharamshala: The COVID vaccination drive has been well received in Kangra district with more than 89 percent of the residents having been given the first dose.
District magistrate of Kangra Dr Nipun Jindal stated, “Till Wednesday 10,83,285 persons had received the first dose of Covid vaccine and 3,42,590 persons in the district have been given both the doses.
In the coming 4 days, we hope to administer every single eligible person above 18 years of age with the first dose of the vaccine,” said Dr. Jindal.
The magistrate urged the residents to come forth to at least receive their first shot. “Greater vaccination coverage will protect all of us from this pandemic,” he said
In August, so far the district has recorded 686 COVID positive cases, of which 448 people had not been vaccinated, 141 had received the first dose and 97 people had received both doses.
The administration has made arrangements to vaccinate the residents up to the village level, without the need for slot booking so that no one faced any problem in participating in the vaccination campaign.
“The government and administration are taking effective steps to deal with COVID and the cooperation of the general public is highly required in this,” said Dr. Jindal.
