Dharamshala: A botanical garden is being established at Jadarangal ( Chamunda) in Dharamshala on behalf of the Central University, An expert committee has been formed for this. On Friday, the expert committee visited the area and took stock of the current situation there.
Ms Pooja PRO CU informed that the committee decided to start activities in August (next month) for the establishment of this garden, which is being built on about 15 acres.
According to Dr. Pradeep Kumar, Chairman of the Expert Committee said, “this Botanical Garden will be built by the Central University on about 15 acres of land in Jadarangal. About three thousand different varieties of plants will be planted here. This will prove helpful for the research work of the students. At the same time, this garden will also be developed to attract tourists.”
For this, a special committee has been formed by the university. Recently, the first meeting of the committee was held at the Shahpur Campus of the university and this garden was discussed in it.
PRO informed that the team which visited Jadarangal on Friday consisted of Regional Director Dr. Arun Chandan, Deputy Director – National Medicinal Plants Board – Regional Co-Facilitation Center of Jogindernagar, Dr. Saurabh Sharma, Civil Engineer,Rishabh, Range Officer Desh Raj, Dr. Ashun Chaudhary, Dr. Rakesh Thakur and Dr. Divya.
Jadrangal on Dharamshala – Palampur state highway is the one of the sites chosen to develop the university Campus.
PRO also gave information about PCG programmes and said that Central University Dharamshala has now extended the application date for PG study programs to 31 July. The university management has taken this decision due to the Corona pandemic. She said that students can apply on the University website www.cuhimachal.ac.in.
The last date for application in PD Diploma and Certificate Course has also been fixed as 31 July. Admission information could be had from the University website.
