Jai Ram Thakur Discusses Investments With UAE, Russian Delegates

Dharamshala: Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur presided over the B2G meeting with the delegation of UAE led by Ambassador of UAE in India HE Ahmed AI Banna at Dharamshala today. The delegation envisaged keen interest in investment in fruit marketing and fruit and vegetable processing.

The Chief Minister said that the State Government has adopted a pro-active approach to attract investment in the State. He said that due to diverse climatic conditions, the State is known as fruit bowl of the country. This offers immense potential for setting up of fruit and food processing units and controlled atmosphere store chain in the State.

Ambassador of UAE said that UAE was the partner country in this Global Investors’ Meet and was committed to make this event a mega hit. He said that UAE was the third largest business partner of India after United States and China, which shows the relations that the two nations share.

The entrepreneurs from UAE also expressed their interest in developing logistics in the State. Few entrepreneurs showed interest in tourism and wellness centres.

Anurag Thakur union minister for state of finance said that India and UAE share a ‘Comprehensive Strategic Partnership’, it is time to enhance this further through investments in the state of Himachal Pradesh. 
In a communique the minister said that the Union Government had taken numerous policy reforms, economic measures, corporate tax cuts and steps to facilitate ease of doing business in India. Himachal has a conducive climate, hardworking and skilled workforce that will be an asset to any company looking to invest.
“There are many tasks force and Joint Working Groups and Ministerial Groups between India and UAE working on investment, trade, skills etc. I am confident that we will galvanise the strength of our 3.3 million workforce in bringing our nations together,”added Thakur.

A Russian delegation also had meeting with the Chief Minister and other senior officers of the State Government. Business delegation apprised the Chief Minister regarding their interest in the agriculture sector and culture exchange projects.

Later, the Chief Minister participated in Tourism, Wellness and Ayush session and in cultural night. Chief Secretary Dr Shrikant Baldi gave a presentation on tourism potential in the State.

Yami Gautam, Brand Ambassador of the event, while addressing in Pahari, said that Himachal Pradesh has immense tourism potential and if fully harnessed it could transform the economy of the people. She also spoke in detail regarding natural farming and agro-tourism and its potential in the State.

Founding Director and Principal Conservation Architect, Officiating President, ICOMOS-India Gurmeet S Rai, shared her thoughts on developing religious and cultural tourism in Himachal Pradesh. She mentioned that the cultural tourism is one of the largest and fastest growing global tourism markets and Himachal has a huge potential in this field.
