Shimla: SJVN handed over cheque of Rs. 68.58 crores, as final dividend for FY 2018-19 to Chief Minister Mr Jai Ram Thakur. Mr Nand Lal Sharma, Chairman & Managing Director, SJVN handed over the cheque at Shimla on Monday. Company has already paid an interim dividend of Rs 158.25 Crores in March 2019 to the Govt. of Himachal Pradesh which is presently holding 26.85% equity in the Company.
The cheque was presented in the presence of Mr Shrikant Baldi, Chief Secretary and Mr Prabodh Saxena, Principal Secretary (MPP & Power). On this occasion, Mr. A. S. Bindra, Director (Finance), Mrs. Geeta Kapur, Director (Personnel), Mr S.P Bansal, Director (Civil), Mr A.K Singh, Chief General Manager (Finance) and other senior officers of SJVN were also present.
While handing over the cheque to the Chief Minister, Mr Sharma apprised him that SJVN has paid a total dividend of Rs 1711.88 Crore till date to Govt of Himachal Pradesh on an investment of Rs 1055.01 Crore. Currently Government of India is holding 61.05% shares of company while 26.85% shares are with Government of Himachal Pradesh & 12.10% with public.
During his meeting with the Chief Minister, Mr N.L Sharma stated that, Hydro Power is the core strength of SJVN and besides executing projects in Himachal Pradesh; SJVN is executing Power Projects in Nepal, Bhutan, Bihar and Uttarakhand.
Mr Sharma further requested the Chief Minister to think over developing Hydro Power in Chenab River basin in a Integrated River Basin Development manner for a faster and cost effective approach. SJVN has a vast experience of working in such areas and terrain.
SJVN has also forayed into the field of Renewable Energy, Power Transmission and Thermal Power. The Company is presently generating around 2015.2 MW of electricity from its operational projects i.e. 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station, 412 MW Rampur Hydro Power Station, 47.6 MW Khirvire Wind Power Project, 50 MW Sadla Wind Power Project and 5.6 MW Charanka Solar Power Station.
SJVN is in the process of harnessing power projects which are in different stages of development. These projects include Twelve Hydro Projects and One Thermal Project, which on completion will add 5134 MW of capacity. As a part of plan for achieving 5000 MW installed capacity by 2023, 12000 MW by 2030 and 25000 MW by 2040, SJVN has formulated aggressive strategies which include both Organic as well as Inorganic modes for growth.
The Chief Minister assured all the support of government in timely execution of various Hydro projects being executed by SJVN in Himachal Pradesh which includes Luhri Stage I & Stage II, Sunni Dam, Dhaulasidh & Jangi Thopan Powari, Purthi & Bardang Hydro Electric Projects.
