Mandi: Two persons Jivan and Jony, have been arrested over charges of raping a visually impaired girl in a village under Bali Chowki tehsil of the district.
Prem Singh Thakur, the district police superintendent disclosed that the girl who is blind lived with her grandparent as she had lost both her parents some years ago.
The grandfather was not at home when the accused are said to have committed the crime.
In the complaint before the police, the girl was rescued by a local resident after heeding to her cries.
A case under section 342, 376 and 34 of Indian Penal Code has been registered and investigations have begun. The two accused of the crime stand arrested, said the police officer.
There is much anger among the residents of the area who are demanding stern punishment for the accused.
