PDP-BJP government will not survive beyond July, Claims JKPCC Chief

Verinag: Senior Congress Leader and Jammu Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee Chief Ghulam Ahmad Mir on Wednesday claimed that PDP-BJP Collation government led by Mehbooba Mufti is on verge to collapse and will not survive beyond  July.

“You can imagine this (PDP-BJP) government till presidential election not beyond that. This government will not survive beyond July,” Ghulam Ahmad Mir told this reporter and claimed that it would have collapsed a month ago due to deep rooted indifferences between the collation partners.

Mir said that utterances of the people associated with both the political parties suggest that both of them are in search of escape routes. “You have BJP with slogan Nation first and hints to get out at any point of time if national interest is affected. On other hand Peoples Democratic Party uses deceitful tacts to lure people as space for them has shrunk. Both the parties have deep rooted differences and there are clear indications that both of them are searching escape routes,” he said.

“Through GST issue PDP somehow managed to please trade community in Kashmir but Mehbooba Mufti is waiting for an opportunity so that she can withdraw her support and make some ground in Kashmir,” Mir added.

He said that both the parties are clinching to chair to secure personnel benefits and to benefit their relatives. “PDP and BJP aren’t working to take state forward but are leaving no stone unturned to secure personnel benefits and benefit their relatives through backdoor entries and other means,” he said.

Ghulam Ahmad Mir said that Opposition particularly Congress is watching every move of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti who used to blame congress for everything Kashmir has witnessed. “Ours state is the only state which at present has financial autonomy. We will see how Mehbooba Mufti will implement it without eroding the special position and financial autonomy of the state,” he said.

Slamming Bhartiya Janta Party for her silence on Goods Service Tax (GST), Mir said alleged that it has deceived its own voters who voted them in 2014.

“I want to ask BJP why they are silent over GST issue and stopped them from implementing it?”  if at all they had decided to not allow discussion on the issue why GST Council meeting was held in Srinagar,” he questioned.

Blaming PDP for the prevailing situation in Kashmir, Mir said that situation as compared to nineties has worsened due PDP-BJP combination.  “Anger is against PDP-BJP combination and youngsters are picking up guns due to alienation,” he added.

He, however said that Congress as opposition party will continue to raise issues of public importance in and outside assembly and will never allow PDP to erode the financial autonomy of the state.
