SJVN Donates Rs 50 Lakh For Himachal CM Relief Fund

Shimla: SJVN Foundation today contributed a sum of Rs 50,00,000 towards Chief Minister’s Relief Fund at Shimla.

RN Misra, Chairman & Managing Director and NL Sharma, Director (Personnel) & Chairman SJVN Foundation at Shimla in the presence of forest minister Thakur Singh Bharmauri presented the cheque to chief minister Virbhadra Singh

On the occasion Misra informed the Chief Minister that against the MoU target of 8700 million units of electricity generation during the current financial year from its power stations, SJVN had already generated more than 8300 million units.

He further said that the financial position of SJVN was healthy. With a gross turnover of Rs 2498.49 crore, the public sector undertaking did earn a net profit of Rs 1589.39 crore in FY 2015-16. Based on the excellent financial performance, SJVN had paid a dividend of Rs 116 crore for to Government of Himachal Pradesh in lieu for the 25.51% shares it holds in SJVN.

On this occasion NL Sharma apprised the Chief Minister that SJVN undertakes it’s CSR and Sustainability projects in 6 verticals, which are health & hygiene, education & skill development, sustainable development, infrastructural & community development, assistance during natural disaster and promotion of culture & Sports.

He disclosed that in the last five years more than 2400 local youth have been trained in various vocational trades. In the area of health, SJVN was operating 14 mobile health vans which had benefitted more than 3 lakh patients.

The foundation had held 120 health camps which alone have benefitted around 30,000 patients. In addition, projects for disabled section of society like providing aids and assistive devices to persons with disabilities through ALIMCO are being given.
