Kullu: To protect tourists from being overcharged, the Kullu district administration has come out with a regulated price to be charged for the adventures seeking paragliding services being offered at Marhi and Rohtang Pass.
Tourist activities plays an important role in the economy of Kullu – Manali valley but regulating all activities is a tough ask as there are always people seeking to make a fast buck.
HR Chauhan, district magistrate Kullu disclosed that after holding a meeting with Kullu Paragliding Association members a decision had been taken to fix flight rates. He said,”After discussing the matter with all stakeholders, it was decided to fix rates for different paragliding routes . Four short distance flight at Solang Nallah the rate declared is Rs 900, per flight, Rs 1200 for one at at Marhi and Rs 3000 would be charged for the long distance flight including ropeway fare from Solang Nallah to Faataru.”
Paragliding is only permitted in marked areas at Marhi and Solang Nallah and is overseen by d district regulatory committee appointed under the orders of National Green Tribunal (NGT).
All paragliding operators offering service for tourists have been directed to put up fixed rate signage. Action would be taken against anybody found overcharging for the activity or for not obeying the district administrations orders, said Chauhan.
