Fifth Shimla Mountain Biking Rally Takes Of On April 14

More than 100 participants have registered for the two day 5th Shimla MTB Himalayan Cycle Rally to start on April 14, which includes cyclists from 4 countries and 10 other states of the country.

The race will start from Shimla and spread over two days will cover a distance of 120kms. The route from Shimla heads out to Taradevi, Sadhupul, Koti and back to Shimla via Sanjauli.

 On day one the participants will be required to cover the route of Ridge, Gorton Castle, Taradevi, Sheel Gaon, Anandpur, Sadhupul, Janedghat, Dochi, and Kanechi. On Day two the participants will start cycling from Kanechi, then proceed to Janedghat, Koti, Mundaghat, Chini Bungalow, Sanjauli, Raj Bhawan, and finally reach Hotel Woodville Palace. mtb 1

This rally is being organized by Himalayan Adventure Sports and Tourism Promotion Association. In this race 22 years old Devender Thakur, a student of HPU, is also participating. He has won the rally twice earlier.

Gaurish Shyam, a school student of DAV School, New Shimla who is only 15 years old, is participating for the 3rd time in the mountain biking rally. Last year he was 2nd in the student category and attained the 5th position in the overall competition.

Akshit Gaur, a student of St.Edwards School is 16 years old stood first in the student category last year.
