Pathankot attack fallout – Himachal police sound alert, release pics of Kangra taxi driver murder suspects

Police seek public assistance in tracing the car and the suspects

Shimla: Unable to crack the murder case of a taxi driver, whose vehicle was hijacked from Kangra airport at Gaggal on 14th January, the district police of Kangra has released closed circuit footage (CCTV) of the suspects and sought public assistance in tracing the crime suspects.

Body of the taxi driver Vijay Kumar (34), a resident of Gurdaspur, Punjab was recovered on 20th January from a ditch besides the Kangra-Pathankot highway near Kotla, about 20 Kms from Gaggal towards Pathankot.

The missing vehicle, an Alto car bearing the taxi number HP 01D 2440 is still to be recovered.

From the airport the car started for Pathankot at about 8.15 p.m. but when the driver did not return home in the night, maternal uncle of the deceased driver lodged a missing report with the police.

Kangra SP Abhishek Dhullar, after releasing the pictures of 3 suspects seen on CCTV boarding the taxi at Gaggal has sought public assistance in sighting and reporting the presence of the suspects, where ever they be spotted.

In the aftermath of the murder of a taxi driver by terrorists who managed to reach Pathankot airbase earlier in the month, not just the Kangra police but Delhi police also has taken a serious view of this crime close to Pathankot.

The Delhi police have issued an alert after the driver was found murdered.

While search operations are going on ‘Stay Alert’ has been put out on the official Delhi police handle.
