Kullu: Rich in medicinal herbs, Himachal plans to develop Ayurveda, the indigenous system of medicine, on the way that Kerala has done so, Karan Singh – the newly inducted Ayurveda minister stated here on Wednesday (2.9.2015) .
On his first visit to Kullu after becoming a minister in the Virbhadra Singh’s cabinet, Karan Singh was addressing a large gathering that had assembled at Bajaura to welcome the leader, who represent Banjar assembly segment of Kullu in the Vidhan Sabha.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said, “As the climate is our state is most conducive for cultivating rare and medicinal herbs that are used by Ayurveda, a thrust for their growth and usage would be given. Like in Kerala, health tourism by propagating Ayurveda treatment systems, all efforts would be made to boost both tourism and Ayurveda in Himachal Pradesh.”
The minister who has also been given charge of the cooperative ministry said that stress would be laid in generating more self employment opportunities in the cooperative sector which would empower the youth.
Karan Singh was warmly received by former horticulture minister Satya Parkash Thakur, Sunder Singh Thakur general secretary state congress committee and other leaders at the venue.
