Kullu: To contain environmental damage to valley, district administrators have decided to act tough with garbage litterers by imposing a fine on those people who are caught committing the public offence.
Vinay Singh Thakur, additional district magistrate Kullu disclosed that the National Green Tribunal had issued directions that strict rules needed to be applied in Kullu if the valley was to maintain its pristine nature and remain attractive for tourists.
He said that to maintain high hygiene levels and institute a safe and environment friendly garbage disposal system, the administration had decided to take services of the Saksham, an organization involved in door to door garbage collection system.
In every ward of Kullu, a vehicle would be deployed by the company for collecting garbage and appointed supervisors would keep a vigil on citizens against littering of public spaces,” he added.
Thakur said, “ people can contact , Sudrashan Singh Pathaniya, sanitation head on his contact no. 98160-78327 or helpline no. 86280-46951.
People could also send in photos or videos on Whatsapp about anybody involved in carelessly littering any place and a fine would be imposed on such miscreants,” said Thakur.
“All officers of the district administration and municipal council have been authorized to inspect any ward of town at anytime,” announced Thakur while appealing the public to cooperate with administration in keeping Kullu clean and beautiful.
