In the past few years Palmapur, the Tea capital of North India and home to Late Captain Saurabh Kalia, a martyr of the Kargil War, has emerged as a popular tourist destination in Himachal Pradesh. But the burgeoning tourism in the town is negatively impacting its surroundings, cloaking it in a spool of garbage, especially around Bundla waterfalls and Saurabh Van Vihar, the later being a memorial dedicated to Captain Saurabh Kalia.
Because this areas lies outside the Municipality limits, no mechanism was in place to clean the garbage, until Palampur Bikers Club in association with Spaces Home Décor initiated installation of 12 dustbins between Saurabh Van Vihar and Awarna village.
In the past as well, the group has been actively engaged in cleaning and maintaining this highly busy tourist center in Palampur. This time around, during the installation of the Dustbins, they were also joined by members from Delhi, who were here to attend the Multi Activity Program organized by the group.
Let’s take a look at some of the pictures of PBC installing the dustbins
