Shimla: A court here today granted anticipatory bail to Vikramaditya Singh, son of Himachal chief minister Virbhadra Singh, as his name figures on the list of accused in a rioting and trespassing case.
Two days ago (29.1.2015) about 12 Youth Congress and Bharatiya Janta Yuva Morcha (BJYM) activists were injured when the two outfits clashed over a demonstration here.
The Youth Congress activists of which Vikramaditya Singh was a part are accused of having smashed windowpanes of the BJP office.
“Judicial magistrate Amit Mandyal has allowed an anticipatory bail application of Vikarmaditya Singh,” a police officer here said. “The police has been asked to reply by 4th February,” he added.
Following the clash, newly appointed Governor Kalyan Singh had summoned the state police chief Sanjay Kumar and sought a report on the incident.
A delegation of BJP legislators led by former chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal had submitted a memorandum to the governor demanding dismissal of the government.
District police superintendent DW Negi let reporters know that both the outfits had lodged FIRs accusing the other group of having incited the violence.
