Baijnath: With stage set all ready, Bir-Billing area of Kangra district seems geared up to host the upcoming pre-Paragliding World Cup. Ulric Jessop, newly appointed event supervisor by the Paragliding World Cup Association also arrived at Bir earlier on Tuesday.
He met the functionaries from the Billing Paragliding Association which are overseeing the arrangement of entire competition. Even teams of Neo Sports and Neo Prime, the official broadcasters for the event have reached the place.
As per the organizers, around 100 to 105 participants are expected to take part in the competition that is organized by the Billing Paragliding Association which is the overall coordinator of the event, supported by the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Department. They also informed that around 180 pilots from 33 countries have registered with them as of date.
For the purpose of safety of the participants helicopter services have also been enrolled by the organizers. The meet director of the competition Debu Chaudhary informed reporters that the number of contestants has been limited to 100 to 105 so as to keep air traffic in control during the competition.
Director of Billing Paragliding Association Anurag Sharma informed that Urban Development Minster of the state Sudhir Sharma who is also president of the Billing Paragliding Association will inaugurate the event on Thursday. Supervisor of rescue department Atul Bhimbhatt stated that every standard possible rescue measures have been adopted for the event.
Official spokesperson for Billing Paragliding Association Munish Dixit told reporters that a control room has been established for the competition that is functional already. Other than the contestants, hundred more pilots have reached the place till now.
