Mandi: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh yesterday announced eight percent dearness allowance for state government employees and pensioners.
Virbhadra Singh, in his Independence Day speech here, said unemployed youth in the state, who have passed Class X, would be entitled to a monthly skill development allowance of Rs.1,000.
To woo the youth, the chief minister in his March 14 budget speech had announced the skill development allowance of Rs.1,000 to those who have passed Class 12 and above and are unemployed.
The chief minister unfurled the national flag and was presented the guard of honour by the Himachal Armed Police, district police, home guards, NCC cadets and scouts of various schools of Mandi, 175 km from state capital Shimla.
Braving inclement weather, hundreds of people attended the function.
