Earthquake tremors felt in Himachal

Shimla: Tremors of the magnitude of 5.4 on the Richter scale rocked several parts of Himachal Pradesh early at 8.03 a.m. today, triggering panic.

The quake lasted a few seconds, an official of the meteorological office said. No loss of life was reported.

The epicentre of earthquake, which was of moderate intensity, was Kishtwar area of Jammu and Kashmir.

In Himachal, the tremors were felt prominently in Shimla, Chamba, Lahaul and Spiti and Kullu and Kangra districts.

Earlier, tremors of the magnitude of 4.5 were felt for some seconds in state July 13.

The epicentre of that quake, which was mild, was in Kangra district of the state.

  1. Dear sir, All these tremors at our tectonic plate Fault-Line covering most of HP area should be taken as “Wake-up calls” Any efforts made toward preparing community in facing
    this calamity head-on should get priority and encouragement
    A very serious and planned approach is needed as this is

    will be able to save lots of bleeding if …”God forbid”
    this calamity takes place..let us learn from other countries facing similar situation.
