Regional parties will dicide next central government: Trinamool

Kolkata, July 3 (IANS) The Trinamool Congress Wednesday claimed that regional parties will dictate the formation of the next central government as neither the BJP nor the Congress will come close to winning majority votes in the 2014 general elections.

“The regional parties will emerge the strongest and dictate the formation of the next government at the centre. Neither the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) nor the Congress will get majority,” Trinamool leader and parliamentarian Sudip Bandyopadhyay said here.

While the Trinamool itself has floated the formation of an anti-BJP, anti-Congress federal front, Bandyopadhyay ridiculed the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M)’s bid to forge an alternative front.

“Their (CPI-M) politics are so bankrupt that they do not even know that the person with whom they are discussing an alternative front is not a party member,” Bandyopadhyay said.

The Trinamool leader was referring to the meeting between Dalmia Group chairman Sanjay Dalmia and some top CPI-M leaders amid reports that the industrialist was representing the Samajwadi Party.

However, a day later, the Samajwadi Party distanced itself from Dalmia, clarifying that he was not even an ordinary member of the party and as such the meeting was not endorsed by the Mulayam Singh Yadav-led party.
