Paris fashion houses innovate from head to toe

Paris, July 3 (IANS/EFE) Shoes by Iris Van Herpen that look like roots, the flashy designs of On aura tout vu and Charlie Le Mindu’s blonde African wigs are among the innovations coming out of the fashion houses of Paris.

Van Herpen, who was invited to showcase her designs Monday, gave a natural look to feet, wrapping them in shoes with plastic roots, while turning dresses into trees and transforming her models into amphibians and birds.

The Dutch designer added leaves to garments and inserted branches made of moving filaments into her works at the show in the Palais de la Decouverte.

Bulgarian designers Livia Stoianova and Yassen Samouilov, the creative forces behind On aura tout vu, unveiled their fall/winter collection in the gardens of the Palais Royal, treating the audience to garments that featured crystal and plastic.

Le Mindu, for his part, unveiled a collection of wigs at the Galeries Lafayette.

“Haute wig styling is haute couture, but for the wigs,” Le Mindu told EFE, adding that he designed wild wigs inspired “by Africa, the African tribes, Ethiopia, the Queen of Sheba”.
