New Delhi, July 3 (IANS) A wet, pleasant morning gave way to a humid, sunny day in the capital Wednesday as the skies remained clear through the day. The Met office has forecast more rains Thursday.
The city received light rains overnight and Wednesday morning. In addition to the 1.7 mm rainfall between 8.30 a.m. Tuesday and 8.30 a.m. Wednesday, it received another 0.8 mm of rains from 8.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. Wednesday, said the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Despite the skies remaining sunny for a major part of the day, the maximum temperature was a notch below average at 35.2 degrees Celsius. The maximum humidity settled at a high of 89 percent.
The day’s minimum temperature too was a notch below average at 26.9 degrees Celsius.
As per the IMD, more rains are in store Thursday.
“The skies will be cloudy tomorrow (Wednesday) and parts of the city will receive rains and thunderstorm,” said the official.
The maximum and minimum temperatures will hover around 36 and 26 degrees Celsius, respectively.
On Tuesday, the maximum and minimum temperature settled a notch above average at 37.6 and 27.8 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Although the monsoon arrived in Delhi a fortnight ahead of schedule June 16, the city has not received much rainfall since then. The city has so far received a total rainfall of 121.2 mm.
