Islamabad, July 3 (IANS) Ahead of the upcoming holy month of Ramadan, security is being beefed up in Pakistan’s port city of Karachi with 300 CCTV camera being installed in addition to the 150 already installed — but now out of order.
The measure is intended for effective monitoring and surveillance, Geo News reported Wednesday.
These CCTV cameras would be installed near mosques, small and big shopping centres, venues for night prayers and Ramadan rallies for surveillance and pre-empting any untoward incident by keeping round-the-clock watch, sources said.
The month of Ramadan, which is beginning July 9 this year, will last till around Aug 7.
Karachi has been witnessing violence, which escalated in recent months.
