Zee News editor seeks relief from high court

New Delhi, June 3 (IANS) Zee News editor Sudhir Chaudhary Monday moved the Delhi High Court seeking anticipatory bail in a fresh forgery case registered against him for telecast of a show on coal blocks allocation allegedly on the basis of forged papers.

The programme hinted at Jindal Group’s alleged connection with the suspected wrongdoings in the coal blocks allocation.

Chaudhary’s plea came up before Justice R.V. Easwar, who posted the matter for July 3.

Police registered a fresh case of forgery against Chaudhary for telecasting in October 2012 a show titled “Media ka sauda” and showing on screen what they claimed to be a part of Comptroller and Auditor General report but were found to be forged.

The trial court earlier dismissed Chaudhary’s anticipatory bail plea after a fresh first information report (FIR) was filed against him on the complaint of Jindal Group.

Chaudhary in his bail plea said that the case was filed against him due to “a grudge as he is the editor of the channel which is running in public interest news against Jindal Group regarding their involvement in coal scam”.

He also said that no forged documents were used by him.
