Kabul, June 17 (IANS) Three civilians were killed and two others wounded Monday when Taliban attacked two trucks in eastern Afghan province of Laghman.
“The insurgents ambushed a two-truck convoy in Sang-e-Kalima area of the province Monday, killing three drivers and injuring two others,” reported Xinhua citing a statement issued by the provincial government.
Provincial governor Fazlullah Mujadidi condemned the attack.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
The Taliban have intensified attacks since April when they launched an annual rebel offensive against Afghanistan and NATO-led forces stationed in the country.
The Taliban urged civilians to stay away from official gatherings, military convoys and centres regarded as the legitimate targets by militants.
