Chennai, June 5 (IANS) After Tamil horror-thriller “Pizza”, it is the turn of debutant Nalan Kumaraswamy’s Tamil crime-comedy “Soodhu Kavvum” which will soon be remade in Kannada. The remake rights have been bought by Rockline Venkatesh.
“It is one of the wittiest films I have seen in recent times. It’s a rarity nowadays to see a film with out-of-the-box story line laced with sensible humour. The film has done exceptional business in Tamil, and I’m sure it will be bigger hit in Kannada as well,” Venkatesh of Rockline Productions, told IANS.
Rockline Venkatesh is known for producing Kannada blockbusters such as “Super”, “Preethse” and “Mourya”.
A story about four misfit kidnappers, “Soodhu Kavvum” was reportedly made on a budget of Rs.2 crore. The film, which is still running in cinemas in Tamil Nadu, managed to collect over Rs.8 crore within the first two weeks of its release.
The lead cast for the untitled Kannada remake is yet to be finalised. Talks are also on for the Telugu and Hindi remake of “Soodhu Kavvum”.
