New Delhi, June 5 (IANS) The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Wednesday asked Uttar Pradesh Police to explain the alleged rape of a woman by four police officials at a police outpost in Sant Kabir Nagar district.
According to news reports, a woman was raped by the police outpost in-charge and three constables in the district on May 26 when she approached them to release her husband who was in jail.
The matter came to light May 29 when the woman’s husband was released from jail and made a written complaint about the incident.
“Notice has been issued to the state deputy general of police and the Sant Kabir district’s superintendent of police calling for reports within four weeks,” said an NHRC official.
