Kerala ex-minister’s sex scandal gets murkier

Kochi, June 28 (IANS) The woman who alleges that a former Kerala minister and his son had repeatedly sexually exploited her said here Friday that she had handed over a laptop and a webcam that recorded their act to him.

The woman said that former Kerala transport minister Jose Thettayil and his elder son Adarsh had sex with her. She claims that Thettayil promised her that he would get his son married to her, but did not keep his word.

“I handed over the laptop and the webcam to him after he promised that his son would marry me,” the 30-year-old told TV news channels.

Her claims had rocked the state last Sunday.

“What I gave to police along with my complaint Sunday was an edited version of the visuals that I had stored in a pen drive,” she said.

She denied reports that she was a sex worker.

Thettayil has been missing since Sunday. Sources said he is garnering evidence to defend his case after he files for anticipatory bail.

While Thettayil’s party, the Janata Dal (Secular) is backing him, Leader of Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan and the CPI may ask for his resignation as a legislator. He represents the Angamaly constituency in the assembly.

A rape case has been registered against Thettayil and his son.

Police said the incident occurred in 2012 and the woman had kept the visuals with her.
