Chennai, June 17 (IANS) Tamil filmmaker K. Balachander has lauded the efforts of the makers of “Thillu Mullu”, a remake of his own film of the same name starring superstar Rajinikanth, saying the new version is apt for the audiences of this generation.
The 1981 “Thillu Mullu” was an official remake of Hindi classic “Golmaal” featuring Amol Palekar.
“I’m happy the makers have taken efforts and made my film into a commercial entertainer. The remake is completely new to me but director Badri has made it in such a way that it’s apt for the current generation of cinemagoers,” said Balachander in a statement.
The remake features Shiva, Isha Talwar and Prakash Raj in the lead roles. It’s the story of the protagonist who lands up a job with a lie, and is forced to act as his own twin to avoid being fired.
Produced by S. Madhan of Vendhar Movies, it had a worldwide release June 14.
