New Delhi, June 12 (IANS) A 17-year-old boy was found hanging from a ceiling fan in his house at Alipur in the west Delhi, police said Wednesday. The boy’s family has alleged that it was not a case of suicide, but murder.
Neeraj, the 17-year-old, was found hanging from the ceiling fan in his first-floor apartment Tuesday night.
“No suicide note was recovered. A case of abetment to suicide has been registered,” a police officer said.
The victim’s family told police that Neeraj was driving the scooty of one of his friends Tuesday evening, and met with a minor accident in which the vehicle was damaged.
“After the accident, his friend told him that he ought to pay Rs.8,000 as compensation. He was threatened, and told that a complaint would be made to his family if he did not pay up. The boy, in shock, committed suicide,” police quoted family members of the boy as saying. They said this was clearly a case more of murder than suicide.
