Jakarta, June 14 (IANS) Chinese shuttlers were out of contention in the men’s singles event of the Indonesia Open Super Series Premier as Du Pengyu was beaten by Indonesian Dyonisius Hayom Rumbaka in the quarterfinals here Friday.
Seeded three, Du Pengyu was the only Chinese player left in the men’s singles quarterfinals. The Indonesian won the match 21-15, 15-21, 21-19, reports Xinhua.
“I have demonstrated my best performance in the match but he (Rumbaka) apparently played even better. His smash and backhand shots were excellent. Win or lose is common in a match. My opponent was playing better than I did,” Du Pengyu said.
In the semifinals, Rumbaka will play top seed Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia.
In the women’s singles quarterfinals, Hong Kong’s Yip Pui Yin stopped Indonesian Belaetrix Manuputi 16-21, 23-21, 22-20. In the semis, Pui Yin would take on China’s top seed Li Xuerui.
