BJP asks state units to help in Uttarakhand relief

New Delhi, June 19 (IANS) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Rajnath Singh Wednesday asked state units to postpone their organisational work and provide assistance and relief to people affected by heavy rains and floods in Uttarakhand.

In a release, Rajnath Singh expressed his heart-felt condolences to those who have lost members of their families in the floods.

“The president has directed all the BJP state units to postpone their organisational work and engage themselves in the efforts of providing assistance/relief,” the release said.

It said that people from other states also have been stranded in Uttarakhand and there was need to provide assistance and relief to those affected by floods.

State party units can convey the information about stranded people belonging to their states to the party’s central office, it said.

The party has already postponed its “jail bharo agitation” in Uttarakhand.
