27 Taliban militants killed in Afghanistan

Kabul, June 9 (IANS) At least 27 Taliban militants were killed and 25 others detained in military operations across Afghanistan, the interior ministry said Sunday.

Eight Taliban militants were also wounded in the operations in Sari Pul, Balkh, Wardak, Ghazni, Paktiya, Herat and Helmand provinces, Xinhua cited the ministry as saying.

The ministry did not say if there were any casualties among the security forces.

More than 270 militants have been killed, 66 wounded and 80 detained during military operations this month.
