Why ‘Kochadaiyaan’ trailer didn’t make it to Cannes

Chennai, May 19 (IANS) The trailer of Superstar Rajinikanth-starrer Tamil period-drama “Kochadaiyaan”, which was supposed to be unveiled at the ongoing Cannes film festival, was called off at the last minute because the team is still working on the final output of the trailer.

“(The) trailer (is) shaping out well. (I’m) working on more surprises. All efforts are going in to release it as soon as possible,” posted the film’s director Soundarya Ashwin on her Twitter page.

According to a source from the film’s unit: “We were all set to go to the festival, but our director was not happy with the final output of the trailer. She didn’t want an unsatisfactory trailer to be released at the festival and, therefore, opted out of the festival”.

Rajinikanth, who was supposed to attend the festival to promote his film, also cancelled his plans.

“Kochadaiyaan” is touted to be India’s first motion-capture feature film made along the lines of Hollywood films “Tin Tin” and “Avatar”.

It also features Deepika Padukone, Aadi Pinisetty, R. Sarath Kumar, Jackie Shroff and Shobana in important role. Muisc is by Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman.

The film is being jointly produced by Eros International and Media One Global Entertainment.
