Speaker meets Slovenia president

New Delhi, May 29 (IANS) Lok Sabha speaker Meira Kumar met Slovenia’s president Borut Pahor Wednesday in the country’s capital Ljubljana, said a statement issued by the speaker’s office here.

“Slovenia, formerly part of Yugoslavia, has a deep bond of friendship with India,” Meira Kumar said while meeting Pahor, the statement said.

“India’s political and cultural engagement with Slovenia goes back to the days when the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) was founded in Belgrade in former Yugoslavia,” Kumar said.

“Pandit Nehru and Josep Broz Tito were the founding fathers of the NAM,” she said.

Kumar unveiled a bust of former prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru in Brda in northern Slovenia.
