Rituparno Ghosh’s demise a loss to creativity: Manish Tewari

New Delhi, May 30 (IANS) The death of renowned film director Rituparno Ghosh is a big loss to the film industry and creativity, Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari said Thursday.

“I am deeply shocked by the tragic and premature death of Shri Ghosh. He was a creative genius who gave a new dimension to filmmaking with every film that he was associated with,” said Tewari.

Cinema has lost a visionary, as Ghosh was always innovative and bold in undertaking new themes for his films, Tewari said.

“His films always left a deep imprint on the minds of the audiences who were captivated by the honest portrayal of human emotions,” he said

Tewari said Ghosh had the ability to touch frontiers of creativity and the courage to think out of the box.

“His death has left a void which will be very difficult to fill. I pray to god that his family gathers the necessary strength to overcome this crisis,” he said.

Ghosh, who made films like “Chokher Bali”, “Unishe April” and “Raincoat”, died in Kolkata Thursday morning of a massive heart attack. He was 49.
