Old friends Sircar, Shantanu team up after 8 years

New Delhi, May 2 (IANS) Director Shoojit Sircar has teamed up with composer Shantanu Moitra for “Madras Cafe” after eight years. He says working with him is like a ‘bong adda’.

The duo worked together in Sircar’s 2005 directorial debut “Yahaan”, a love story of a Kashmiri girl and an Indian army officer.

Releasing Aug 30, “Madras Cafe” is a political thriller, which stars John Abraham and Nargis Fakhri in lead roles.

“Shantanu and me go back a long way, since our college days in Delhi…working with him is like a party or ‘bong adda’, you can say,” Sircar said in a statement.

“‘Madras Cafe’ is a serious film and we have already started jamming. The background score will be an integral part of the film. Really excited to team up again,” he added.

For Moitra, who has given the background score for movies like “Parineeta”, “Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi” and “Lage Raho Munna Bhai”, working with Sircar is like “visiting old friend”.

“It’s been a long journey. I gave Shoojit his first music video for my album ‘Mann Ke Manjeere’ and then I scored for his first film ‘Yahaan’. So, ‘Madras Cafe’ is like visiting an old friend, who is also the finest musical brain a director can have,” Moitra said.
