Milan, May 1 (IANS) Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti said he is convinced that Javier Zanetti will recover from injury and return to the field.
The Argentine, who will turn 40 in August, will be sidelined for at least six months after he ruptured his Achilles tendon at Palermo Sunday, reports Xinhua.
“It’s very sad and I feel really bad for him,” said Moratti about the man who was his first signing back in 1995. “He knows that.
“I spoke to him straight after the injury happened. But with his character he’ll be back, there is no doubt about it.
“The fans can’t think they won’t see him again. They will and he will be back playing at his best.”
Zanetti, who will undergo operation late Tuesday, has vowed to come back stronger.
