Last five years amazing: Ranbir Kapoor

Kolkata, May 23 (IANS) Grateful at having worked with “interesting filmmakers” since his 2007 debut, actor Ranbir Kapoor Thursday confessed that playing himself in his forthcoming release “Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani” (YJHD) is “harder” than enacting characters in his previous films.

“I am grateful that I got to work with such good directors. I was at the right place at the right time… I got these opportunities and I was intelligent enough to grab it.

“I think these (Anurag Basu, Ayan Mukerji) are really interesting filmmakers. They have great things to say through their movies… I just kind of tag along on their vision,” said Ranbir here.

Son of veteran actors Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh, Ranbir made his debut in director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s 2007 film “Saawariya”, which didn’t find favour at the box office. However, his work in his subsequent ventures “Wake Up Sid”, “Rochkstar” and “Barfi” won him accolades and awards.

Describing his celluloid journey so far as “amazing”, Ranbir acknowledged that his passion and profession are the same.

“It’s been amazing. I don’t know how these five years have passed… I don’t know how these nine film have released. I am really happy that I get to do what I love and I think what is important is that you should do what you love,” he said.

His next film is “Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani”. Directed by Ayan Mukerji it also stars Deepika Padukone.

“‘Rockstar’ and ‘Barfi!’ are far more easier for me because I am playing a character. In films like YJHD, I have to play myself, which is way more harder because you have to reflect your own personality,” he explained.

Produced by Dharma Productions, “Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani”, releasing May 31, also stars Kalki Koechlin and Aditya Roy Kapoor.
