Jet Airways completes 20 years of existence

Mumbai, May 6 (IANS) India’s private international carrier Jet Airways completed 20 years of operations Sunday, an official said here Monday.

Two decades ago, it had taken the delivery of its first aircraft in Mumbai in the presence of J.R.D. Tata, making the start of a new chapter in the civil aviation industry in the country.

From that humble beginning, the airline today has 115 aircraft offering over 600 daily flights across 52 domestic and 20 international destinations around the world.

After its domestic success story and growing liberalization, Jet Airways launched its maiden international flight in March 2004 with a service connecting Chennai-Colombo, followed by other SAARC countries, and later Singapore, Bangkok and London.

Speaking on the occasion, Jet Airways Group Chairman Naresh Goyal said the milestone was the outcome of the unstinted support, trust and confidence of millions of guests who have flown on the airline and its partners who imbibed the values of adhering to strict quality standards.

“As India’s premier airline, we are committed to offering our guests the very best travel experience both in the skies and on the ground. As we set our sights firmly on the future with even bigger goals for the years ahead, we re-dedicate ourselves to ensuring that the flying experience of all our guests will always be nothing but the best,” Goyal said.
