New Delhi, May 3 (IANS) The revised autorickshaw and taxi fares will come into effect in the capital from Saturday with the Delhi government warning of strict action against errant drivers.
“We have issued a notification regarding the revised fares (of autorickshaws and taxis) and the new rates will come into effect from Saturday. Drivers found charging more than the revised fares will be booked under the Motor Vehicles Act,” Delhi Transport Minister Ramakant Goswami said.
The government also directed autorickshaw and taxi driver to immediately get fare meters of their vehicles calibrated.
“The transport department has also instructed meter manufacturers and suppliers to calibrate meters,” a Delhi government official said.
