Fashion students get to show off work at Madrid museum

Madrid, May 22 (IANS/EFE) Design and fine arts students from Spain’s Universidad Francisco opened a show Tuesday at Madrid’s Museo del Traje that showcases their talents.

The exhibition, which runs until May 26, seeks to show how the students are preparing to enter a tough real world that lacks many things but not creativity, organizers said.

The situation is tough, but the students have a level of desire and hope that will help them “tackle the world”, professors Itziar Esteban Infantes and Abigail Aguirre Araujo said.

Students coordinated the organization of the exhibition, which features outfits designed by first-, third- and fourth-year students.

The students’ designs are distinct and provide a wide variety of views of the world and fashion.

The students, however, have organized a “coherent” show that reflects their academic development and gives visitors an opportunity to see real “works of art”, Aguirre Araujo said.

Visitors usually only see “the final part” and do not understand the difficulty of the creative process, Cristina Arias, one of the student organizers, said.

“We want to help visitors appreciate the evolution” of a work from its early stages to finished product, Arias said.
