BCCI chief should resign: Kamal Nath

New Delhi, May 25 (IANS) Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath Saturday said BCCI chief N. Srinivasan should quit following the arrest of his son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan in the IPL spot fixing scandal.

But Kamal Nath clarified that this was his personal view.

“It is absolutely untenable for the BCCI chief to continue, he has no credibility left,” Kamal Nath told TimesNow television.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Rajiv Pratap Rudy and Communist Party of India leader D. Raja also sought action in the case.

“It is a matter of concern. Steps should be taken, it is a matter of the reputation of the game,” Rudy told reporters.

Raja demanded that “political leaders attached to BCCI like Arun Jaitley, Rajeev Shukla and Sharad Pawar should speak out. Cricket has become a gambling business, there is corruption and sleaze in it”.

Meiyappan, chief executive of Chennai Super Kings team, was arrested by Mumabi police Friday night.

The IPL scam came to light when Rajasthan Royals cricketers S. Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan were arrested on spot fixing charges last week.
