Guwahati, April 7 (IANS) A student of the Assam Agricultural University in Jorhat district was found dead under mysterious circumstances, police said Sunday.
The deceased student was identified as Kusum Tripura, police said adding that he hails from Tripura. Kusum was in the second semester.
According to police, other hostel mates grew suspicious after seeing his room in AAU’s hostel remain shut for a long time Saturday. Some of his hostel mates tried to call him but received no response. Later, they broke the door open and found Kusum lying on the floor unconscious.
“They took him to the Jorhat Medical College immediately but he was declared dead by the doctors,” police said.
His body had been sent for post mortem and family members were informed about the incident, police said.
Police said that Kusum had been staying in the hostel for last six months.
