New Delhi, April 14 (IANS) In one of the most gory accidents in the capital, a motorcyclist was hit and dragged by a speeding truck for over three km Saturday night, police said.
Two more people were killed in two other road accidents, also caused by speeding trucks, in the city in the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday, police said.
In the first incident, Amit Kapoor, 30, was dragged for over three km after being hit by a truck on the Ring Road in Kashmere Gate area in north Delhi. He was riding a motorcycle.
Kapoor, a resident of Gurgaon worked in a call centre, and was going to pick a friend from the Kashmere gate Inter-State Bus Termunal.
He died on the spot. The truck driver abandoned the vehicle and is now untraceable, police said.
In the second accident, a 50-year-old woman, Shayada Bibi, was killed when a truck rammed into a rickshaw trolley in which she was sitting in Geeta Colony area in east Delhi.
Her husband was injured in the incident. Both were garbage collectors.
In the third incident, auto-rickshaw driver Israil, 44, was mowed down by a truck at New Usman area in east Delhi.
He died on the spot. The truck has been impounded and a search is on to nab the driver, who ran away.
